Learn About the Recognition & Equivalency Certificates
This page explains two document types needed to be submitted after admission: Recognition Letters, which are for graduate applicants, and Equivalency Certificates, which are required from Turkish students for undergraduate registration.

For Graduate Applicants
What Is a Recognition Letter?
A Recognition Letter is a document that will be requested from master’s or PhD applicants to confirm that their previous university or degree is formally recognized. Some graduate programs ask for this confirmation during application review or final registration.
The procedure and requirements for Recognition Letters depend on the graduate school or program. Applicants follow the instructions given directly by the university, based on the official guidelines and the country where their previous education was completed.
For Turkish Citizen Undergraduates
What Is an Equivalency Certificate?
An Equivalency Certificate confirms that an international high-school diploma is considered equivalent to a Turkish high-school diploma. This document is required only from Turkish citizens during undergraduate registration.
Turkish students can obtain Denklik either from the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) or from the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in the country where they studied. In many cases, embassies issue Denklik immediately after reviewing the documents.

A concise guide to the essentials of the certificates
Turkish citizen students applying as international students for undergraduate programs need to obtain Denklik.
Denklik can be received from the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) in Türkiye or from the Turkish Embassy/Consulate in the country where the student graduated. Embassies often issue it quickly.
Graduate-level (master’s/PhD) applicants can be asked to provide a recognition document confirming their previous university or degree is formally accepted.
When required, both documents are submitted during the final registration stage, according to the instructions provided by the university.
